Danielle Prall on Living with Purpose and Connection
At Engle Martin, Women’s History Month is a time to reflect, recognize, and celebrate the diverse experiences and perspectives that continue to shape our organization and industry. It’s also an opportunity to amplify the voices of the women whose insights and values influence how we work, lead, and grow.
This year, we’re proud to conclude our Women’s History Month spotlight series with Danielle Prall, Senior Property Adjuster based in Nashville, Tennessee. In her years with Engle Martin, Danielle has brought a thoughtful, grounded perspective to her work, rooted in connection, balance, and a deep respect for both people and process. Her reflections go beyond career alone, offering a meaningful lens on purpose, growth, and what it means to contribute in a way that truly matters.
Redefining Celebration: A Perspective Rooted in Equality
For Danielle, Women’s History Month is not defined by tradition, but by intention. Her perspective centers on honoring the feminine spirit—creativity, cooperation, and nurturing—and recognizing the value these qualities bring to the world.
Raised by both biological and “bonus” parents who avoided placing limitations or expectations on her path, Danielle grew up without being pushed toward predefined gender roles. Instead, she experienced a sense of natural equivalence, an understanding that while contributions may differ, they are equally meaningful. This upbringing shaped how she sees the world today: appreciating the differences as essential parts of a greater whole. She emphasizes that functionality, whether in life, nature, or work, depends on diverse contributions working in harmony.
“For me, this means recognizing differences, regardless of gender, and celebrating those differences as equal in contribution to the functionality of the whole.”
At the same time, Danielle holds a deep appreciation for the women throughout history who have fought for progress, often in the face of significant limitations. She acknowledges that her ability to live and speak freely today is built on the sacrifices and resilience of those who came before her.
“To all of the women in history who have fought the battles they faced, I am thankful for the sacrifices made and work done that has laid the groundwork for my ability to live a life with fewer limitations.”
Danielle’s reflections are both grateful and forward-looking while she acknowledges, “We still have work to do.”
Inspiration Through Nature
When asked about inspiration, Danielle doesn’t point to a single public figure. Instead, she reflects on the women in her life who grounded her in the natural world, those who taught her how to nurture, grow, and steward life in all its forms. These early experiences in the garden became something much greater than a hobby or fascination. They shaped her worldview.
Danielle speaks to the idea of interconnectedness, the understanding that everything, from soil microbes to human relationships, is part of a larger system that thrives on cooperation. Even small, often overlooked elements play a vital role. She shares the example of how contact with soil microbes can positively impact both mood and immune health, illustrating how deeply connected we are to the world around us. This awareness carries into her personal and professional philosophy: that no contribution is too small, and that meaningful outcomes are almost always the result of collective effort.
“This cooperative and giving spirit, found everywhere in nature, influences my vision for my highest contribution both personally and professionally.”
Through this lens, Danielle approaches her work with a sense of shared responsibility and respect for the roles others play.
“It reminds me that we are all in this together and that all contributions, however big or small, are meaningful and should be valued as such.”
A Strong Foundation
At the heart of Danielle’s foundation is the influence of her mother, whose perspective on life and love left a lasting imprint. In a society that often prioritizes achievement, titles, and external success, Danielle was raised with a different understanding, one centered on unconditional love, without the need to perform or prove worth. This foundation allowed her to develop a strong sense of self, independent of external validation. It also reshaped how she views both success and failure, not as defining moments, but as part of a larger journey.
“This kind of love… is the bedrock that properly places both successes and failures along the way as stepping stones.”
That perspective continues to guide how she approaches relationships, challenges, and growth. It reinforces the idea that at the core of everything, personally and professionally, is connection.
Words That Inspire Reflection
Danielle finds inspiration in the words of poet Mary Oliver, whose writing captures the urgency and beauty of living intentionally:
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
For Danielle, this quote is a reminder to live with purpose, to remain present, and to approach life with curiosity and intention.
Advice for Women Starting Their Careers
Danielle’s advice to women entering the workforce or considering a path in the industry reflects her broader philosophy on life. She encourages a mindset rooted in courage and self-awareness. One that embraces experience rather than fearing it.
In her eyes, no role, job, or pursuit is without value. Every step offers insight, growth, and an opportunity to better understand oneself. She also challenges the tendency to measure success through comparison, emphasizing that growth cannot come from following someone else’s path.
“Move through life unafraid… No experience, work, or quest is without merit or lesson.”
Instead, she encourages focusing on effort, presence, and the joy found in the process.
“Whatever you’re doing, do your best. Enjoy every moment of this miraculous life you’re afforded and keep chasing the dreams you have without attachment to the outcome.”
Her advice ultimately reframes success. Danielle told us, “The pursuit will mean more than the arrival 100% of the time.”
The Power of Compassion
In an industry often defined by process, outcomes, and efficiency, Danielle highlights the importance of qualities that can sometimes be overlooked: compassion and the ability to truly listen.
She believes these strengths are essential to effective leadership and collaboration. When people feel heard and understood, it creates an environment of trust that leads to stronger communication, better teamwork, and more positive experiences overall.
“When those we work with feel seen and heard, it automatically builds trust, open communication, and camaraderie.”
These qualities improve outcomes and shape the culture of the workplace in meaningful ways.
Celebrating Women at Engle Martin
Danielle’s perspective is a powerful reminder that impact is not defined solely by results, but by how we engage with the world around us. Through her emphasis on connection, compassion, and authenticity, she brings a thoughtful and human-centered approach to her work at Engle Martin.
