Ana Morlen on the Power of Mentorship and the Support of Women
Each year during Women’s History Month, we take time to recognize the achievements, leadership, and impact of women who have helped shape industries and open doors for future generations. At Engle Martin, we are proud to celebrate the voices and experiences of the talented professionals who contribute to our organization and the claims industry every day.
Ana Morlen, a General Adjuster based in Dallas, Texas, has been part of the Engle Martin team for three years. In recognition of Women’s History Month, she shares reflections on the women who have influenced her journey, the values that guide her career, and the strengths women bring to the insurance industry.
Recognizing the Contributions of Women
For Ana, Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the progress women have made while continuing to support growth and opportunity for those who follow.
“Women’s History Month is a meaningful opportunity to recognize the contributions, resilience, and leadership of women across all industries.
She sees the celebration not only as recognition of past accomplishments, but also as encouragement to continue building pathways for women entering the industry.
“Celebrating it allows us to honor how far we’ve come while continuing important conversations about growth, representation, and opportunity for future generations.”
Inspired by Women Who Lead by Example
Throughout her career, Ana has drawn inspiration from a number of women that she has encountered who have demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and leadership in their respective roles. She told us, “I’ve been inspired by many women throughout my career, especially those I’ve had the privilege of working alongside.”
She expresses appreciation for her colleagues within Engle Martin, notably Cheryl O’Shea, Claims Administrator (Dallas, TX); Carla Pasley, Claims Administrator (Kansas City, MO); and Jessica Mayo, Claims Administrator (Houston, TX); whose professionalism and reliability help keep Engle Martin’s operations running smoothly. She has also been influenced by other adjusters in the industry, including former colleague Kirsten Stubbs and Engle Martin’s Annette Tarquinio, Senior Executive General Adjuster (Dallas, TX), whose strength, expertise, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on Ana.
Another important influence early in her career was Stephanie King, her husband’s mother, who worked as an adjuster for more than 15 years.
“What I find most inspiring about all these women is their ability to balance the demands of their careers with everyday life, while still supporting others and helping them grow. They’ve helped pave the way for younger generations of women in this industry, and I’m truly thankful for the confidence and space they’ve created for us to succeed.”
Her Mother’s Lasting Influence
While many professionals have inspired her along the way, Ana says the person who has had the most meaningful impact on her life is her mother.
“Without question, my mother has had the most meaningful influence on my life. Her impact on who I am today is immeasurable, and the love and guidance she has given me continue to shape me every day.”
She credits her mother with instilling the values that guide both her personal and professional life. Ana said, “She taught me the importance of faith, what it truly means to be a woman, and how to always strive for more while remaining kind, grounded, and true to myself.”
For Women Beginning Their Careers
For women considering a career in the insurance industry, Ana encourages curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to learn from others.
“My advice would be to stay curious and never underestimate the power of persistence. This industry can be fast-paced and challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.”
She also highlights the importance of relationships and mentorship.
“Build strong relationships, ask questions, and seek guidance from those who have walked the path before you. Trust in your abilities and remember that growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.”
A Foundation for Trusted Results
Ana believes women bring a powerful combination of qualities that strengthen the claims profession and the broader insurance industry.
She said, “Women bring a unique combination of resilience, empathy, and attention to detail that strengthens every part of this industry.” These skills, she says, help foster trust and deliver meaningful results.
“We often approach challenges with a balance of practicality and compassion, which helps in building trust and delivering results. Our ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards is a strength that deserves more recognition.”
